A PITTSBURGH CREATIVE LANDMARK

1109 ARLINGTON AVENUE

This site stands at the crossroads of Pittsburgh history, home to the 1890 Knoxville Incline terminus and the 1925 Mosebach Electric warehouse. Since 1995, this campus has housed one of Pittsburgh's longest-running creative studio communities, supporting 40 creative studios alongside climate controlled storage, serving as a vital resource for hundreds of musicians, including members of Rusted Root, Anti-Flag, Code Orange, and producers like MCM Studios.

Help Preserve 30 Years of Artist Studios in Pittsburgh

For over 30 years, this building has quietly supported artists, musicians, and producers in Pittsburgh’s Allentown neighborhood. What began as an industrial site later became a creative home for hundreds of working artists, a use that has existed continuously since the 1995. As we prepare to go through the City’s zoning process, we are gathering community support to request a Special Exception that would allow these long-standing lower-floor studios to continue operating. Nothing new is being added. Nothing is being expanded. This request is simply about preserving what has already been here for decades.

Designed for Easy Access, Security, and Sound Control

AMP Storage & Studios is designed to make storing equipment, inventory, and creative tools straightforward and secure.

The building offers multiple ways to load and unload, including ground-level access, dock-height loading doors, a covered interior loading bay, and a high-capacity freight elevator, making it easy to move instruments, gear, furniture, and stored items efficiently.

Inside, the facility is climate-controlled, well-lit with restored LED lighting, and monitored with security cameras throughout common areas. Access to the building and individual areas is managed through controlled entry systems to keep spaces secure and organized.

The lower floors include private, sound-insulated studios designed to limit sound transmission throughout the building, while upper floors provide climate-controlled storage. Shared areas offer Wi-Fi and clean, professional environments intended for long-term, responsible use.

Under new ownership as of June 2025. Professionally managed by Apex Financial Management.

Creative Work at MCM Studios

Jelly Roll

Dizzy Wright

In addition to hosting bands and artists, the building has long been home to working music producers. One of those studios is MCM Studios, operated by Mike Hitt, an award-winning producer who owned and ran MCM Studios in the building for over 16 years. Mike’s work, mentorship, and long-term presence helped shape the sound that came out of MCM and made the space a place musicians trusted to create, record, and grow.
